For 8 years, Sickle Cell Warriors of Buffalo have walked through September to be seen, to be heard, and to stand together. This year, we're stepping into something bigger—a movement where Warrior stories become data, awareness becomes impact, and our community becomes impossible to ignore.

Why We Walk
For too long, the conversation has been about Sickle Cell, not with Warriors themselves.
We were told:

Our lives would be shorter

Our pain didn't fit the data

Our voices didn't matter

Our stories weren't valuable
But Warriors are still here. Still fighting. Still building. Still walking.
Now, something has changed.
Through the Warrior Intelligence Project, Sickle Cell Warriors of Buffalo are turning their lived experience into community-led data that hospitals and health systems can no longer ignore.
Every story matters. Every pattern counts. Every voice shapes better care.
This walk is about three things:

Awareness — Making sure Buffalo understands what sickle cell really means to families living it.

Advocacy — Turning Warrior voices into evidence that drives real change in how we're cared for.

Action — Building the infrastructure that lets Warriors lead their own future.
We don't walk because the system recognizes us yet.
We walk to make sure it does.

Sickle Cell Warriors of Buffalo exists as a complete community infrastructure. We provide navigation support, family connection, advocacy training, education programs, AND data-driven intelligence through the Warrior Intelligence Project. Every dollar goes toward strengthening Warriors and their families—whether through direct support, community building, or systems change.

Warrior Circle ($25–$50)

Your gift supports our year-round community programs: support groups, family events, educational workshops, and the connections that keep Warriors and families from feeling alone.

Your gift funds community education—workshops in schools, training for families to navigate healthcare systems, and the resources that help Warriors advocate for themselves. You're also supporting the beginning phases of the Warrior Intelligence Project as Warriors document their experiences.
Impact Circle ($250–$500)
You're building Buffalo's sickle cell infrastructure.
