Warrior Juanita McClain
Having complications with Sickle cell disease as early as 6 months old, has played a part in the trauma that lives in me today. Living with Sickle Cell can strip you of a life if you let it. I choose not to let it. I have accomplished many goals in my life despite being told that I wouldn't live past 12, or I wouldn't be able to bare children, or have a long fulfilling life like I have today. My struggles with Sickle Cell and the many complications that have almost led to my death is what gives me the strength and resilience that I have today. One thing that I am most grateful for is individuals who choose to donate blood to help warriors like me have a healthier experience while living with Sickle Cell disease. Thank you to those who support my journey.

"Sickle cell is like having a friend with u all the time u never can hear her or see her but u can just feel her when she's hitting on your lungs or kidneys or liver. She is always gonna give u a reminder she's there but me I am a fighter a warrior so I always prepare for the worst as in always staying hydrated or having a hoodie or taking my medicine I'm always gonna push back.. "
